19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

His defensive play style and regular reactions on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
